Schlern - the cult place

Schlern - the cult place

The dolomite table mountain of Schlern is a cult place. The end tip of the summit table is called Burgstall. There a lot of archeologic evidence was found, proving that since the iron age on, perhaps even since the bronze age, ritual offerings were practiced there. Altar stones, ceramics, burnt animal bones - these all prove that people were gathering above those precipies on special occasions. And still todays the winds are whispering there the tales of witchcraft and occult gatherings. What else could people think, seeing in warm summer days fires high below the sky. Good

Good shot Vid and I like the additional info. I've seen Schlern many times from the other side (Seiser Alm), but it's just as beautiful from this side.
Cheers!

Wonderful shot!

A superb composition Jasmina did here, Vid! Were you in Collalbo / Klobenstein? That's where I took shots of the Schlern from, three summers ago, and I had exactly that angle!
Cheers,
Eric

Re: Wonderful shot!

Yes Eric, we were there and also this one was taken from Klobenstein. From there we took a bus up towards Rittner Horn :)

I love it!

Bronze pitons, animal bones for nuts, rawhide climbing ropes. Those blokes were tough!
