"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

FrequentlyHiked many times, most recently in icy January conditions. With that long gentle ridge, probably my favourite of Acadia's tops.

From PenobscotA bonus peak after climbing Penobscot. Or was Penobscot a bonus peak before Sargent?

Giant Slide adventureWent up the Giant Slide Trail to Sargent Mountain. Summit was a bit of a disappointment due to our early start and dense fog, but the changed route up the Giant Slide trail was a great Class 3 Scramble due to work on the main trail. On to Parkman and then down!

Perfect dayI like the views from this area more than Cadillac. You can get some nice westward views. Decent sized summit area, so you don't have clear sight lines everywhere. Not too crowded

Route Climbed: Hadlock Brook, Grandgent, and Bald Peak TrailsGreat loop hike. Saw only a few people on the summit ridge. Busy in the afternoon due to the fine weather. Expansive views throughout the loop. Easy trails to follow. Summits of Gilmore Peak, Parkman Mountain, and Bald Peak are also nice.
