Getting There

From Leeds, Utah (which is located on Interstate 15) travel north along Main Street for approximately one mile. Make a right turn onto paved N. 900 and follow it approximately 2 miles (eventually the road turns into gravel & sand) to the trailhead parking lot signed Sand Cove Trailhead. There's a huge fenced in parking area here.

Route

There's a map posted at the trailhead. The hike is just shy of 4 miles round-trip. It's fairly simple.

Red Tape

No red tape & no permits required to hike here.

When To Climb

This mountain can be climbed anytime of the year. We encountered quite a bit of snow & ice in mid November. Most of that was on the north side of the two false summits.

Camping

There's several options close by.....the BLM Oak Grove Campground on the west side of the interstate would be the closet. In addition, on the road up to the campground there are about half a dozen dispersed sites which are marked with BLM camp posts. Camping on that road in unmarked areas is prohibited. Just to the south of Leeds, Utah is the BLM Red Cliffs Campground. I tried camping near the trailhead and the sheriff kindly asked me to move on.
