Good Story

I really enjoyed the MR, but I bet it was really interesting as a solo climb. Reading your report brought back my own memories - I need to get back to that area soon.

Great Story!

I had one aborted attempt up the mountaineer's route about 10 years ago, and have always wanted to get back there and give it another go. I love the story and the great pics--thanks for sharing so that I may live vicariously through others. :)

I feel ya!

Great story. I've been on Whitney twice. Both solo. I've lost track of the nights I've crawled into my Outback and seconds past sundown to try to sleep, alone.

Awareness is everything

The best part of an adventure is to be able to tell the story yourself. It seems you were very thoughtful of every step you took. Great accomplishment; nobody made history by taking it easy. Congratulations. I'm just realizing that this was hiked in 2008 and you haven't been active on this site for more than 3 years! It took a while for SP to place your story on front page. You must be a grandfather by now :)

Memories

Well written! I went over the north side of Whitney via Mountaineers Route several years back. Your trip report brought back some fond memories of what turned out to be one of my most challenging experiences. Good job at staying alive! Cheers
