We (me and my father) started our climb at Wolliger hütte, where we arrived by car from Mallnitz through Dösen. It's about a 20 minute trip from Mallnitz by car! You can also start your climb From Mallnitz on the number 522 route.

Route Description

The route is an easy one through Auernig (2130m) and Törlkopf (2446m), but you can easily reach Kleine Maresenspitze (2656m) with a 20 minute trip. it is a bit North-West from the Number 522 route, and aboute an hour before reaching the top. The route nearly goes on the mountain ridge from Auernig to the top.

Essential Gear

You can climb Maresenspitze with good shoes in the summer but it's better to have mountain boots and touring/walking sticks to make your climb easier and safer. In the winter crampons are necessary I think but I haven't been there then. Ropes or an ice-axe are not needed!
