Approach
Turn west from 395 at rock creek road/ toms place. Drive to the Tamarack trail head at rock creek lake. The trail head elevation is about 9700 ft.
Route Description
From the trail head follow the trail towards Dorothy lake and Francis lake. This trail is pretty dry compaired to the little lakes valley trail but sees far fewer people. Go to Francis lake, this lake is a good spot to make a camp if you are going to do this as a overnighter. Mount Morgan looms straight in front of you from here, head towards the obvious ridge on your right. Once you reach this ridge there are some sweet views looking down on the little lakes valley. Follow the ridge up until you come to a flat area at the top of the ridge, from here you can see the peak, head for it and scramble up to the top. The views from this peak are epic!! some of the best in my opinion.
Essential Gear
In the summer just bring food, water a windbreaker for the peak , in the winter this peak becomes a full on winter mountaineering trip. Early season you might need ice axe and crampons. This peak also makes for some nice skiing.
