Approach
Start at Easy pass TH and hike over the pass and down Fisher cr valley 9 1/2 miles and crass Fisher creek on a log with a rail. In less than a 1/4 mile cross back over Fisher creek on a downed tree and start up slope to the gully that leads to the col between Cosho and Thieves peaks.
Route Description
Before leaving the main trail, look up to see the two pyramid shaped peaks on the ridge and the gully that comes down between them, that gully is the one you will be taking up to the col. Cross Fisher Cr on the downed tree and angle slightly left or right to reach old growth timber on either side of the brushy gully. Follow this timber until the gully can be reached with minimal brush. If the timber is not reached, much thick alder, maple and willow will have to be ascended to reach the gully. Once in the gully climb straight up it, alternating to the left side when the going gets difficult. Near the top the gully forks, stay left in the wider open side and reach the col. From the col it is a fun class 3 scramble to the summit.
Essential Gear
Early in the season a ice axe would be needed and possibly crampons. Later on a axe would not even be needed although a helmet might be recommended for large parties. Water was available almost all the way to the col even in early August and snow is abundant north of the col for melting. Bring plenty of film, for the views are outstanding ! Insect repellant is a must in July and August due to the large number of biting flies at the lower elevations in Fisher Cr valley.
