Approach
Follow forest road 23 from either Trout Lake or Randle to forest road 2329. Follow 2329 to Killen Cr. trailhead. Take Killen Creek trail to camp area at edge of Adams Glacier about 5 miles. Gifford Pinchot forest map is very useful.
Route Description
The route is pretty straight forward. From camp at the foot of the glacier ascend over moraines and the lower glacier apron. Start climbing up a steep dome, or bulge, and generally bear right as you ascend. In early season the glacier is not broken up too badly and the most difficult section is crossing a large crevasse that completly crosses the glacier. Above this continue up 40 degree slopes trending back to the left. Top out on the broad summit dome and traverse S. to the summit. Usual descent is via the N. ridge, a very easy snow and rock ridge back to camp at the glacier foot. This route is best done in early season or before the route becomes badly crevassed.
Essential Gear
Normal glacier travel gear. Pickets may be useful or ice screws in very icy conditions.
