Re: Wooow !Thanks! It is quite rare type of rocks, once I climbed the same in New Zealand, in Lovers Laep, but in Armenia it is much interesting. It is hard volcanic tufa

Here in the Washington State, USA, we have a lot of this rock and a well-known climbing area with some spectacular examples:

Re: Wooow !The rocks in Armenia doesn't look like bazalt in the nearest Caucasian regions like Elbrus, where it is black, very firm and smooth. In Armenia it is much softer and has good friction as gray limestone. But I am not a geologist. Thanks for you comment and for the link - spectacular!
