RE: PPT 07

Well done Patrick! Fantastic trip report on the Grand Traverse! As always, a pleasure to hike with you and Alan on any mountain we set our minds to. Here's to many more!

nice

Great report, Patrick! I've always wanted to go up the Crags and down Barr. I know the feeling you get on the summit with the tourists gawking at you. It feels even weirder when you pop out of the Y couloir to a parking lot! You might want to change the date on you report.

Re: nice

Thanks Kevin. How did I come up with 1999? I was still doing time in Washington, DC then!

Nice Report!

Glad to see you guys made it. Unfortunately, I didnt get to head back up last weekend with all that unstable weather. Looks like they got at least another foot of snow in the area. I saw that one guy got caught up in the snow and had to spend the night! Will be back possibly next weekend now that I know the route (and figured out the 14'ers.com waypoints on my GPS!)

Re: Nice Report!

Thanks! Waypoints in a GPS are a must with all that snow unless you are totally familiar with that route, which we were not. You made the right call not going back last weekend. I was looking at that mountain on Saturday and being glad that we were not up there. As for the guy who was stuck last weekend, I think he was careless with his gear. What was he thinking going up there without snowshoes? Also, what was the ranger thinking for driving the final mile after his wife dropped him off? I should give him the benefit of the doubt and hopefully he warned the guy not to go up without snowshoes and better boots. Anyway, he learned and fortunately, lived.
Climb On!
Patrick
