Via North Ridge, with Tamarack Peak and Mount Houghton
Climbed this as the second of a triple summit day following Tamarack Peak. The snow conditions were difficult on the flats, so I gained the ridge by climbing straight up from the tram station to the low point on the ridge north of the radio tower, then summitted by following the ridge southward. I then retraced my steps up to the summit of Mt Houghton. I was surprised by how much snow was still up there; Should have brought my snowshoes.

5 peak day
Fun day of hiking, from Mt. Rose summit took the Relay Road, cross country from due south of Tamarack, up and over the peak, back down to Relay Road, up to Relay Peak where I scrambled up the last 300 feet rather than walking the road, then took the new trail to Mt. Houghton, then cross country down from Houghton to the saddle with Mt. Rose, picked up the Mt. Rose trail here, took that until it was time for the easy cross country to Church Peak, then rejoined the Mt. Rose trail to the summit of Mt. Rose. Took the Mt. Rose trail all the way back down. TR will be posted HERE.

Relay Peak and Mt Houghton
Picked off Relay first then headed over to Houghton, took a stupid way down from there but ended up finding a decent chute to get me back down on to the Rose trail.

Still snow
In the middle of the summer and there was still snow this year, we ran into a group skiing the peak in the area. I think relay peak has the best views.

Great Views
Did a loop with Church and Houghton. Enjoyed the beautiful views from the summit, yet found the lack of snow -- patches here and there, no widespread coverage -- rather disappointing given the date.

Great view of Tahoe
The plan was after Tamarack and Houghton and Relay, then traverse to Rose Knob Peak, Rose Knob and Baldy. My brother-in-law's feet though became very cold and we couldn't continue. Nice day still. That would be a great day to complete those 6 peaks, will be back.

Relay Peak
Relay Peak is the tallest peak on the Tahoe Rim Trail. My friends and I completed the 165 mile stretch this year. The views from Relay were nice! It was a pretty easy walk as far as peaks go~
Always a great hike from the Mt. Rose Hwy. parking lot. Snow becomes quite evident after the pond. The last leg of the service road up to the communications tower is half bare and half snow covered. There was still quite a bit of snow to hike through for the last few mins before you reach the summit, which is half covered and half not. No dangerous snowfields. Have fun!

East Ridge - lots of snow
Hiked via the South Ridge. It was still pretty much all covered in snow. I tried to descend via the road, but it was snow covered. I had to slide down on my rear instead of the road from near the electric towers.

TRT
Did this on a thru hike of the Tahoe Rim Trail. Great on the way up from the south side but then a zoo of people on the way down to Rose Summit. Didn't help that it was Labor Day weekend. I didn't care much for the powerlines and all the signs of humans either.
