Red Cap from "Tinaja Peak"
Red Cap-- just guess why it's called that-- is the highpoint of the Calico Hills.
"Tinaja Peak" is my private name for an unnamed summit in the Calico Hills on which my brother, my son, and I found six water-filled tinajas (tanks) and several more dry ones. One tinaja was the size of a small pond, and another was a few feet deep. The tinajas are essential to the survival of several desert species, including the desert bighorn sheep.
