Good weather, lots of people
I was suprised to see so many people on the trail with their dogs. There's a big difference in the amount of traffic this trail sees during the week and weekend. I recommend doing it during the week.

Snowless in February
Simple and straightforward. Exploring in the cracks on the ledge is especially fun.

Deep Snow
Easy hike up to the ledge but the views are nice. Not really a summit. We continued up to 3200 feet on Rattlesnake Mountain. There's knee deep snow up there this time of year. Wish I had snow-shoes. We saw some fresh cougar tracks in the snow on the trail where it starts to flatten out.
