It seems as...there was good weather. Was that pic taken the same day the storm approached?

Re: It seems as...Thanks for your comment, Diego. In the evening (23.8.2004) a thunderstorm approached. The next day, on a Tuesday, there was bad weather. It was very cold!
Cheers, Hiltrud

Re: It seems as...This picture was taken on Monday morning (August 23rd), probably around 10:00am.
The two previous days had been clear but extremely cold for this part of the year - I was in Courmayeur (the village you see behind Rahel's back) and last few nights had been freezing even at 1200m.
Weather began to deteriorate later on Monday afternoon, in a fashion similar to the one shown in my page here
http://www.summitpost.org/article/221190/How-a-Storm-Comes-to-Mt-Blanc.html
By Tuesday morning it was raining literally in buckets. The mountain you see to the right of Rahel's back was strewn with ephemeral, rain-made water streams. One can only imagine how bad where conditions up the Innominata ridge.

Re: It seems as...Thanks for your kind and informative comment. In this summer we will come for a stay in Cervinia (and Zermatt). But next year, we will come back to Courmayeur!
Best regards

How sadthat this wonderful ridge climb should lead to your losing her! But at least it is a beautiful remembrance.
