Phenomenal photoAs a person who has just begun lead climbing (sport, not trad), big wall climbing is something so intimidating and intriguing to me. I'm undecided whether I want to take my climbing to that level, but this photograph is stiff competition for anyone who would say otherwise. Excellent shot.

Re: Phenomenal photoThank you for the nice word. Enjoy the learning curve -- we still certainly are, as we're at a pre-school level with our "wall climbing." But figuring stuff out is pretty enjoyable :) Cheers.

Great shotSuch a unique shot of a very well-photographed scene! I love being able to see the portaledge in the photo -- it really puts me there. A tad overexposed, but its a great photo!

Re: Great shotthanks much B. - yeah, not sure how to correct the overexposure w/o making the rest too dark.

Re: Great shotSometimes, when I am shooting in situations like these (bright background, but with something in the foreground that I want to "light up") I will use a fill flash. The fill flash forces the camera to flash, even though there is plenty of light to accurately expose for the main subject (the background in this case). Typically you can force the flash by pushing the flash button until the flash is turned off of automatic -- cameras will often display a lightning bolt when this option is chosen. Sometimes this option is only available when the camera is turned to 'P' on the dial.
I know it is tough to do this while enjoying the moment, and I always have a tough time taking good shots while climbing. I just thought I would offer this suggestion as it is a fun tool -- it especially works awesome when there is a sunset / sunrise with people in the foreground!
Again, it's a great shot and it meant a lot that you shared such a personal moment through your trip report.
