If that's a fiasco...What does it take to make a hike a success?
10 1/2 hours is excellent time, even skipping Madison, especially going northbound.

Re: If that's a fiasco...I thought the hike actually went pretty well, I would have liked to get Madison because I am trying to climb all the 4000 footers this summer and not getting Madison means another full day trip (thats not necessarily a bad thing because hiking in the Presidentials is always fun). It was everything surrounding the hike that was a fiasco. Between having to convince the guy at the AMC lodge to let us have a room "under the table", missing the hiker shuttle, and my battery dying it was a mentally exhausting 24 hours.
