Lets start the season with a couple of Gorgonio hikes.

I am looking for a dedicated partner Novice or Intermediate hiker is perfect. Above average fitness level is ideal. We can train together to prepare. if this is your first time no problem it will be fun, if you are experienced lets do The Mountaineers Route @ Whitney.

jddeetzWhitney is on my hit list...
I would most likely be down for mountaineer's route ascent of Whitney. I am an intermediate hiker and beginner climber, fitness won't be an issue. I read that mountaineers route is a only a class 3 climb. Recommended equipment is ice axe/crampons. That being said I bet it'll be a looonnnnng class 3 climb. No quota applies to this route as with the main route. Personally, I'd be a fan of ascending via mountaineers route and descending via the trail. Class 3 can get a little scary going down. Anyway hit me up at jddeetz@gmail.com if you need a trip partner.

The MR was inducted into the lottery system last year so make sure you get into the lottery and secure permits for the trip dates. Good Luck

For the MR, there is a daily quota. 6 reservable spots and 4 walk-ins. The traditional Feb. lottery does not apply to the MR for 2010 and you can reserve 1-6 of the MR spots 6 months in advance.
