Penstemon
The genus Penstemon of the family Scrophulariaceae are a prolific and beautiful group of plants. There are about 225 species native to North America, mostly in western U.S. and one species in Kamchatka and Japan. The name is from the Greek Pente, five, and stemon, thread. Some species are well marked, but many are difficult to distinguish being poorly defined with superficially similar characteristics. Hybrids are sometimes common in nature. They do well in a native garden either by cuttings or grown from seed.There are many good pictures of Penstemons of SP, please submit yours.
