Overview

One of the main mountains inside Rio de Janeiro, in Tijuca National Park – Sector C. With 696m, close to Pedra da Gavea and Dois Irmãos Peak, this mountain provides the best place to hanglinding in Rio. Pedra Bonita has a “table” form on the top. The mountain is between three districts in Rio de Janeiro: São Conrado, Barra da Tijuca and Alto da Boa Vista. Original Atlantic Forest cover the cliffs and valleys for all sides.

The best way to go to Pedra Bonita is from São Conrado beach. Take the road called Estrada das Canoas ( Canoas Road ) and, drive to the hangglidding ramp, on the top of Pedra Bonita - Easy, very easy. The way to the ramp is 100% paved. To get the main summit, it’s necessary to walk up more 500mts and around 80m of elevetion gain. There aren’t official transport to this mountain or to the hanggliding ramp. Some vans and taxis make the transportation.

From Copacabana
Drive to Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas and take the road to Barra da Tijuca called Auto-Estrada Lagoa-Barra. Cross Zuzu Angel Tunnel and arriving in São Conrado district, plates to Pedra Bonita will be on the right side.
