But I made it in a Civic!  Sucess!

The most challenging part of the drive (at least in 2016) was the lack of cell coverage approaching the high point, which required reliance upon instructions about gravel county roads acquired a few miles before...oh, and the ruts in the road with the 5-inch ground clearance of my Honda; but as Allan Quatermain would say, "such is the price of a life of great adventure!"

HP #22!  Sucess!

Saw a herd of bison (200 or so!) in the distance when I got to this highpoint. Very neat!

Desolate location but blissful solitude.  Sucess!

Drove over after a day and night in RMNP. My GPS kept leading me to try to get there from the Colorado side but reality kept intervening. Finally got there to find it completely empty and remote, but what were you expecting? You get a drawer and monument, and you like it. Was pleased to bag #33, and almost done with the drive ups.

a storm rolled in  Sucess!

got here as a storm was rolling in. a thunderstorm on the prairie, while beautiful, is not really something you want to be stuck in. made it back to the main road just as it started to rain.

A beautiful lonely spot on High Plains  Sucess!

Gave us something to aim for on drive between Badlands and Denver. Out of envelopes when we arrived.

Larvitour Stop #34  Sucess!

A lovely high point with a very un-lovely approach (for a low-clearance vehicle, at least). All the way through the bison-field I could hear plants and rocks scraping against my car's underside. Nothing broke, but it was unnerving all the same, since if anything _had_ I'd have been stranded in the middle of nowhere. I read in a Highpointers Club magazine at the summit that they're gathering funds to improve the road, so things should get better... but until they do, bring your Jeep for this one.

HP and Tri-state marker  Sucess!

It was only an hour side trip from Pawnee Sportsmans Center so I finally got to see this little out of the way corner of the US. Then I visited the tri-state marker.

Nowhere Land  Sucess!

Still has a view from the top. If you happen to see a few different spots with chain link fence surrounding a 1/2 acre of land with a wind sock and a sign that says no tresspassing, I believe those are underground missile silos. You can't miss them because they are the only things you see other than farm land for 10's of miles.

High Point #25  Sucess!

Summitted with Kate. Met a very nice couple from Quebec, Alain and Francine! I don't know if it was the altitude, but even the Coors Light that our new friends shared with us tasted great!

Stopped by on the way back from climbing Devil's Tower. Should have got that T-shirt commemorating the highpoint back in town.
