Painted Hills

Painted Hills

This image was taken on a discovery as we trekked through the nearest group of hills and enetered a small and most beautiful vaslley where we discovered mineralized wood, not fossilized as many people think as the minerals that predominated the ground at the time leeched into the pourous wood and hardened. In many instances a slice of the piece under investigation will have a layer not yet hardened by age. This valley/canyon offers much to see in color, line, textures, and emerging wood trunks. When walking into the rear areas and through the valleys always walk in the streambeds and not on the hillsides. Also, Watch For Rattlesnakes: 2 years ago there was one with 23 rattles living in the park area in the morning.
