For the price I had rather have Aliens. I don't particularly care for the three lobe design and although it might have been my placement, this is the only piece I've had pull on a fall in solid rock.

I have to admit that I do spend alot of time on sandstone where long spliter cracks allow for easy placement of 4 lobe units.

The TCU does however come in handy in shallow cracks where you may only have two lobes in.

The Metolius TCU's led the Industry, nearly 20 years ago !! and they continue to demonstrate themselves to be Leaders in Design and Funcion. The right math, gives them the best grab and holding power available. The narrow head width allows placements in the shallowest of cracks or seams. Double cables and clever trigger bar allow plenty of room for fingers, or even gloves, for easy placement and removal. The Teflon, or whatever they are, trigger slides insure smooth action and they seem quite resistant to abuse and damage. The sizings are a bit different....but they do allow alot of size overlap...which is Very Good !!!! I just Love these things !!!! ....and only wish that they made "Hybrids"

These are some of my favorite pieces. They fit into shallow cracks and funky pockets better than aliens (except the hybrids), and the handling is easier, as well. I have taken a leader fall on the #1 TCU and now it is my favorite! Aliens have their place, and these things do too. I like the smaller size range better than the larger ones. I carry TCU's up to the #4 and use other cams for larger placements.

Small Sizes are Great!
These flush out my rack on the small end, I have Camalots for the bigger pieces, but the TCU's are perfect for small pockets and placements where nothing else will fit. They are easy to maintain and seem to hold their shape better than a lot of other cams.

At first I wasn't so sure. The lower price and lightweight got me to buy a few of the smaller sizes. After a few trips I grab for these right away! They fit in narrow and shallow cracks and hold better than you would ever imagine. These are a perfect compliment to C4s on your rack.
