Our lightest down jacket, the Helios is the warmest 15 ounces you can pack. The cut is close, yet still allows a full range of arm movement without riding up. The 1.6oz nylon taffeta shell is sewn through and filled with 750+ goose down. It can shrink to the size of a softball when packed in its stuff sack, yet when you pull it out on chilly evenings, no pile jacket will come close to being as warm. Wear it under a shell or by itself. Cozy lycra bound down filled pockets warm your hands, while lycra trim at the waist and cuffs seal out drafts. A draft flap backing the zipper as well as a zippered inside chest pocket round out the features. The Helios gives you all the warmth you need at the lightest weight possible.

At a mere 11 ounces and compressing to about the size of a baseball, the Helios Vest will go unnoticed in your pack until you pull it out for instant warmth. Like the Helios down jacket, the vest is cut to fit closely and unobtrusively under a shell jacket. Elastic along the arm holes and waist seal tight without binding. The puffy handwarmer pockets are covered with lycra bound flaps. The short collar snugs just right without getting in the way of other layers. Small enough to easily fit in a fanny pack, the Helios Vest will quickly become an all-season essential in your backcountrylayering system.

I own both a Jacket and vest version of this product. The one is use the most is the Jacket verion. It weighs nothing. But adds so much warmth to whatever I have on. I use it as a back up for under my wind shell jacket, should a storm move in and the weather change quickly. Takes up no space in my back. You can get in waterproof version, but I stick to the nylon less expensive version as it is used as a liner as upposed to an actual jacket.

It is an inexpensive way to make your wind shell a down parka in seconds.

I bought one of these from FF six years ago.

Have used the nylon version walking on many a cold day. It does weigh next to nothing and is extremely warm. FF is quirky on the phone but for 1/2 price who cares. I always throw it in the car during the winter.

Awesome jacket! Weights next to nothing (and much lighter than comparable jackets from TNF or other mainstream vendors), packs really well, reasonably warm and water resistant (mine is with Epic fabric). You can get these with eVent fabric as well if you expect a lot of moisture. One shortcoming, you cannot easily stuff the jacket into one of the pockets. I got used to this neat feature with TNF Nuptse. I would not take this jacket to Himalaya, but if you need a warm garmet for lower elevation warmer outings, this jacket is IT

awesome
Packed to the size of a softball and weighing nearly nothing you can't go wrong. With a light windstopper over it mine kept me toasty at -1 f stationary nonetheless. (not reccomeding it by itself for that type of weather, but it is WARM)
