Oh Shit!

Oh Shit!

The northern approach road to the North Six Shooter has a few surprises. A small ditch proved a bit too much for our SUV and the morning turned into a project of a different sort. Indian Creek, Utah (Oct. 30, 2005). Details.

Yikes

Another kind of fun just getting to the mountains. I about slid off Skyline drive in Utah this past summer when I hit a tilted road that was slick with mud. I still have nightmares over that close call. BTW, is that a rental?

Re: Yikes

Hi Dean,

glad to hear you did not slide too far! Had some similar situations a few times as well...all part of the "fun" I guess :)

"BTW, is that a rental? "
...shhhhhhhh ;)

Thanks for stopping by Dean.

I like how the back tires are almost in the air.

Wow, amazing how that Utah air makes your Toyota truck look like a Dodge Neon. Nice "SUV".

Heh, heh :)
Yeah, it was a fun little project involving a jack, some rocks, and plenty of profanity.

Cool pics on the bolt ladder on top of SRG. Did not know those are there. How is the scramble to the top? Something a newbie would enjoy (thinking about taking my girlfriend out there sometime).

Re: I like how the back tires are almost in the air.

Thanks Brian.

The scramble to the base of the West Smith summit ladder is a hike (nice one too as far as Smith). The info. on the ladder cometh from Ryan L. The route itself is about 20?? feet of 4th-low 5th to reach the ladder (you can't really see it as the bolts are painted over to match rock color). The ladder itself is straightforward & short. It's a bit more overhanging than Pioneer Route (maybe??) and you either need to bust a free move just below summit (chunk, chunky rock!) to reach the last (?) bolt or put in a nut for one more aid move. Think your GF would enjoy it - just show her how to backaid and not jummar. Fun position & fun outing!
