"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Route CommentAn online account and some pictures of this epic climb can be found here. This story originally appreared in a 1998 edition of the South African Out There magazine.
(The author of this article BTW was Duncan Elliot - a gifted climber himself, who was sadly killed in a climbing accident in Peru two years ago.)

Route CommentI've read that article ( have it right here ). There are several factual mistakes though, and I always wonder where these things come from. We were in the snow cave for 5 weeks, not 64 days. And I was in the hospital before Christmas - I called my folks the day after Christmas so as to not bum out their holiday! Other than that it's pretty good!

Route CommentI did find that the article was a bit overdramatised and flowery, rather than just letting the facts speak for themselves. Probably an attempt to make the story palatable and exciting for a non-climbing audience.
But it makes for a good read nevertheless!
