"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Three Forks TrailheadThe Three Forks Trailhead is now clearly marked with a sign on the road. I have attached a picture of the trailhead from Hale Ridge Road. Please make corrections to the main page. Thanks for the page and all you have contributed to it, it was a great hike.

Getting there and campingJuly 2011 - the sign for Kelsey Mtn Rd (alternate starting point for Bartram Trail approach) is gone at Bald Mt Rd but there is a USFS trailhead sign for Rabun Bald. Access to this trailhead from GA is much easier by turning right off GA 246 onto Old Mud Creek Rd following signs to Sky Valley. rather than going to Scaly Mt. Just continue past Sky Valley and it will be a sharp uphill right turn. Less than a mile to good parking at trailhead. Yes, you could continue up jeep trail another mile, but why? It's a nice hike up trail connecting to Bartram Trail. Good backcountry campsites at top of Mt but no water.
