In such circumstances...do you apply any fixed rule concerning the use of the circular polarizer? Wonderful pic!

Re: In such circumstances...Thanks Livio! Using the polarizer in case like this when most of the photo is occupied with bright snow is tricky if you don't want the sky to turn out black! Then I increase contrast in camera to +2 or 3 to make snow as bright as possible but not to over burn it. Rest is done at home. I increase highlights and reduce mid tones to get the sky blue. But, that all depends from photo to photo. Sometimes if I don't want black sky and contrast is super strong I even remove the polarizer or turn it to the area between no effect and max effect. But as I said, there is no fixed rule, I approach each photo individually and do what is necessary to get what I want.

Looks as deepas the crevasse used for the movie "Touching the Void"

Re: Looks as deepThis one is huge Mark but probably not as that one in Touching the Void, but who knows, maybe below the visible 'bottom' there are more hidden chambers. As we were tied together none of my friends had will to untie and go to the other side to pose for a scale reference, which is pity cause it would have been better.
