Greetings from Arizona!Alpinist - CHEERS for your vote.
This is an impressive peak & photo.
When my wife & I were returning home
from San Francisco, we DROVE back
over SONORA PASS. It was during the
month of May, and the amount of
snow was incredible. Hope you're
getting rain/snow where you are.
Thanks & take care!

Re: Greetings from Arizona! You were lucky that Sonora Pass was open early this year! It often does not open until June. I bet it was pretty then... Thanks for the vote!

One final question ...Is Night Cap Peak the one you can view from the highway, after passing Kennedy Meadows???
I was kind of in a hurry on that day. Do you
know the geology of Night Cap Peak? THANKS!!!

Re: One final question ...I don't think you can see Nightcap Peak from the highway until you get closer to the Sonora Pass because the highway is so low compared with the adjacent ridges and hills. You can see if from the pass but you have to look back towards the west. Nightcap Peak is mostly volcanic rock, with some granite sticking out here and there. That's pretty typical of that whole area. Cheers!

Re: One final question ...I was mistaken earlier. You can see Night Cap Peak from Hwy 108 just east of Kennedy Meadows.
