Read the summit log entries

by you and Dave. The coldness part brings back memories of our Fishhook climb earlier this year.......not the way I picture Cali weather :)

Nice shot!

Re: Read the summit log entries

Hey R -

I think we're wrapping up the technical stuff for the year. We're healing up as we're both feeling that certain body parts take longer to heal these days. What have you and Shirley planned for the winter?

Re: Read the summit log entries

Hey Dave,

I know what you mean. Not only the body-related issues, but also the weather seems to be going downhill --- all these point to an early end to the alpine season.

As for winter, probably more standard Smith outings.

If you guys got a couple days this winter, why don't you shoot up to Oregon for a day (or two or three...) of cragging with hardly any approach? The odds of having decent (dry) weather are generally good at Smith.....something to think about :)

Would be fun to get together for some climbing & microbrews. Let us know!

take care

That would be awesome! I'll "install" it into our winter plans with Debbi and beat down the details later. Never climbed at Smith before. Is that rock basalt?

Cool Dave. Let us know when you guys have some date ideas in mind.

The rock in the main area of the park - think pretty much all the Smith stuff I and others have added so far - is not really basalt. I'm not a geologist so I'm not sure if the term is slang or an actual rock type, but the stuff is referred to as "tuff". Pretty unique. There is quality basalt climbing at Smith as well though. Worth a visit and a test drive :)
