The usual suspects got together on a beautiful Sunday morning for some ice climbing. Peter and I had never been on waterfall ice and Charles and Fabio were only slightly more experienced. Brian and Chris were the seasoned ice climbers among us.

Brian guided us to Hidden Falls a short distance up Wild Basin in Rocky Mountain National Park. The falls were a little thin and portions of them were pretty fragile. Nevertheless we were able to find an area on the right side where we could thrash around without doing too much damage.

We each took a couple of laps and practiced placing screws and making v-threads along the bottom of the falls.

The weather was really nice and we spent as much time jokin' around and hangin' out as we did climbing. It was a nice change to have such a mellow day in the hills.

Thanks. I stopped by your profile - you had some pretty sweet goals for 2006. Did you make any of 'em? I'd love to see some photos/trip reports. Getting up into the Wind Rivers next summer is a fairly high priority for me. My life's ambition right now is that huge route on Alice... hopefully in the next couple of years ;-)

Re: LOL

Great - glad you liked it. I was goin' for a light-hearted, fun feeling with the music... it was certainly a light-hearted, fun trip. Sounds like I succeeded.

Andy,

once again I am impressed by your video. Good work! Looks like lots of fun. Did you guys get drenched or was it cold enough to avoid any dripping water? Have a good one, we are going to have to climb soon. Maybe next weekend somewhere in Rocky Mountain?

Re: Andy,

Thanks Danimal - I think you should changer your user name ;-). In places the ice was wet to the touch, but we didn't climb where it was running with water so we didn't really get wet. Check your email for climbing plans for 12/30.
