"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Mount PinatuboShaylee, Kimberly, and I (with a required guide) hiked to the crater at Pinatubo after an exciting FJ40 ride. It was a beautiful hike and quite spectacular. There were interesting Aeta villages along the way as well. The crater lake was the highlight scenery wise and was really impressive. It was a great hike!

Success! What a beautiful turquois blue caldera on the top! Foot hiking after the jeep approach was about 3 hours one way to the top of this picturesque volcano. The hidden entrance is found by a local guide and an extensive Jeep ride across salt flats and thru small rivers to the jump off point. Then did a quick climb up a wooden ladder system, trekked thru hot stream run-offs, gravel beds, layers of recent volcanic ash, and then up through a lush green jungle to take a refreshing swim at the top. A+ climb in the Phillipines!
