Ghunsa, the largest Sherpa village near Kangchenjunga.
Photographed by me in October, 1998.
Compare with this 1899 photo by Vittorio Sella and this 1931 photo by Frank Smythe.
I carried a photocopy of Smythe's picture on my trek and tried to find the place he stood when he snapped the shutter.
