This is a route photo. This...

This is a route photo. This photo may be key as to finding the correct way to get from the est Maroon Creek Trail to the boulderfield under Pyramid's north face. Notice the giant pinnacle in the center of the photo. The standard route ascends the valley to the left of this pinnacle and delivers you at the start of the huge boulderfield.

The alternate route I have posted in the route description ascends to the right of the pinnacle. If you go to the right you will come to a tiny notch, about big enough to barely slide through. This route will deposit you about a quarter of a mile up into the amphitheatre into the boulder field. We liked this route for we are not big fans of bouldering.

Another route

A third possibility is to cross the notch on the far right of the photo. From the notch you descend about 100 ft. into the amphtheature and cross it near the top, avoiding a lot of the talus on the standard route.
