| Pic 2: Will Lou make it... | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
Pic 2: Will Lou make it across? He did every time. I took maybe 4 of these pics which means he jumped this crevasse at least 4 times. This shot is a scan from a slide photo, Kodakcrome asa 25 film that lost some of its color over the years so it is a bit on the washed out side but for those of you voting this low, consider the uniqueness of a shot like this. (Lou is Lou Whitaker)
Another shot of Lou is HERE. In fact, this view is my favorite angle.

Hasn't voted | I took this pic of Lou in 1969. Let's see,
2006 minus 1969 makes 37 years so far since this shot. April, I do think he no longer is jumping crevasses in this manner. | | Posted Oct 1, 2006 8:57 pm |

Hasn't voted | Wouldn't that be something? Of course, he probably he'd have to find narrower crevasses to jump. LOL. | | Posted Mar 26, 2007 10:44 pm |

Hasn't voted | It was neat to spend most of a week with the guy. I learned a lot. Jim came up to Muir and entertained our group with the story of the 63 Everest climb. Of course, this was in 1969 so it was still pretty fresh and awe inspiring.
