Looking down to Camp Muir from up on the Cowlitz glacier. You can see the climbers "trail" leading to the left and the old outhouse that is to the right of the climbers hut. 8-8-69

had QUITE the view! I worked at Mt. Rainier in 1989 ... just after Camp Muir started using a "solar-powered" decomposition outhouse. (20 YEARS LATER!)- NICE!

Makes me APPRECIATE what we have NOW. Time for a "Starbucks" break. Take care & THANKS!!I LOVE it.

That old outhouse was closed but there was another one near the guide hut on the Cowlitz glacier side, that had a metal seat. Metal on below zero days, not good. There was also generally a line up so if you planned it right, that metal seat would be warmed up. The outhouse had its "products" aimed into a crevasse which is no longer allowed.
