If you climb on a summer...
If you climb on a summer weekend, be prepared for hundreds of people. On June 29, 2002 we saw about 100 people on the summit and 200 people in gridlock on the Cables. If you stayed between the cables it took people an hour each way. The quick way to go up and down was along the cables on the outside. Some of the posts were coming out of the holes that were drilled into the rock.

Beans would be a bad thing. And if you spent the night drinking beer.

just made it to the top of Half Dome for the first time. It's been my nemesis for 10 years. Failed twice before making it this time. What a killer feeling - it is amazing.

One funny thing: on the cables about halfway up, just as it really began to get steep, a guy about 10 feet ahead of me leans out of the path, lays down on the rock while holding onto the pole, and vomits about 7 or 8 times. It was horrid yet hilarious and disgusting all at once. I somehow had to compose myself and block it out to go past him. Poor guy - he never made it to the top. How would that suck - to get halfway up the cables and lose it all? What an experience... esoteric is a nice way to put it...
