Changing my vote to 4 stars and voting on the substance instead of the classification of this page. Nice work and great info.

Hi Brian,

could you please give any reasons for your opinion? I would be very interested in your arguments.

I did not know about the books the best place for them is in the book sectionon the left menu you can add them there if you want.

AS for the map I completely forgot to add it which is funny because you really need a map to find most of the ACC huts in Canada.

I will add the zermat link but leave geneva out since josh's airport one will take care of that.

as for the messaage board great Idea we can just use the present SP message board I will start a thread on Eourpe and have the page link to it. Or we can ask Josh to make it the link on the Left hand menu?

Thanks Rahel

Hi John,

great page!! I have only some suggestions. I think you could add something:

  • Books which give further infos on the hut like Waeber and probably Dumler (although I'm not sure)
  • The swiss map on which the hut is marked (since not all huts are marked on all maps).
  • Zermatt as "related village" with its internet link and the link to Geneva as related city with an international airport.
  • An own section on "Experiences with the hut" to which people can add just a short notice about their experience with it. I have worked for a while in the internet-community of the german alpine club. There exists a board in which people can write their - positive and negative - experiences with the huts of the Alps. There are many posts on this board (at present more than 200). But there are two disadvantages of this board:

    1. The entries are not put into the archives forever but are deleted after a while.

    2. All posts are written in german.

Often people complained that the posts overthere are deleted after a while. That means: the need for an extensive archive about experiences with the huts in the European Alps is there, but at present there is no place for this on the web. SummitPost could provide this place excellently.

  • Regards, Rahel

put the links in as requested in as for the Map grid I will have to look into that as I do not have the right map.

I have started a thread in the SP fourm and set a link to it as well.

As for the books they should be added to the book section. You can do that as I know noting of these books

    Cheers

Actually, most of the material is mine own and doesn’t come from a book. The directions to Zermatt are from Rahel Maria Liu. The history and other facts come form the hut's website witch is only in German so this is why I made up a post of it. There are a number of similar ones on SP and most of us find them very helpful

    New hut?

I was wondering if the hut pictured is the old one, since a new one is up now? Is the location and other details the same for the new hut?

    Re: New hut?

Yes it is right next to it both are still open. Didn't get a chance to see it this summer but but from what I heard it is very nice more like a 2 star hotel than a hut.
