OverviewThe Ebenefluh is a lesser known neighbor of the famous Jungfrau.
It features two sides that make it attractive to different types of people.
The North Face is a steep and broad ice wall that makes it an ideal ice-tour for mountaineers.
The gentle slopes in the south and east make it an easy peak for Ski-Tourist
that often come up without much effort from the Jungfraujoch via train.
Besides the main peak of the Ebenefluh the Gletscherhorn (3962m)
and the Mittaghorn (3897m) belong also to the Ebenefluh Group.
Hikers and mountaineers can use the same facilities to stay overnight.

Via Bern and Interlaken you can easily reach the Berner Oberland by
train all the way to Lauterbrunnen (continue to Stechelberg for the north face) or Grindelwald (for
the skiers). From both towns you can use the Jungfraubahn train
that takes you to the Jungfraujoch through the middle of the famous
Eiger.
Red TapeThere are no permits needed anywhere in Europe.
When To ClimbThe Ebenefluh North Face is ideal from June to September, but
can be done year round if you are crazy enough (not recommended)
The south face is interesting mostly for Skiers, which makes December
to June the most crowded times.
AccomodationHuts
99% of the mountaineers in this area spend the night in one of the many huts
that are very conveniently located. For example:
Camping
is usually not the way to go here. You can certainly do it,
and nobody will get into trouble, if you pitch your tent anywhere on the
glacier at dusk and pack it away by dawn, even in the more crowded areas.
In the more remote areas, you could probably also leave it for one day.
