geographical classification: Eastern Alps-Hohe Tauern -Ankogel GROUP
The Ankogel Group lies in the eastern part of the Hohe Tauern. It covers the northern area of Carinthia and the southern area of Salzburgerland. The most important mountains in this area are: Ankogel (3256m.), Hochalmspitze (3360m.), Grosses Hafner (3076m.) and Reisseck (2965m.). The Ankogelgroup is surrounded by the Goldberg Group in the West and the Kreuzeck Group in the South. The Hochalmspitze is the last mountain covered by glaciers when you go to the east. The Ankogelgroup is often divided in the 'Ankogelgroup' and Reisseckgroup'. The Reisseckgroup is a more rough massif, the Ankogelgroup contains a lot of glaciers.

- Tauerntunnel - Katschbergtunnel
