Like Temple Crag in the SierraCall me a Sierracentrist, but my goodness - Dragontail from this point of view is like the lost twin of Temple Crag rising above Third Lake. What a striking resemblance in several specific ways. Thanks for posting this great shot.

Re: Like Temple Crag in the SierraInteresting. I found a photo that shows what you mean. What's even more interesting is that just to Dragontail's east is a peak called The Temple. Click here for the Dragontail map at topozone.com, then click the right arrow, and you'll see The Temple in the upper right-hand corner of the next map segment.
The Enchantment Lakes area is often compared to the Sierra, and there are other areas in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness with similar characteristics, but for the most part the North Cascades region is very different from anything in California or anywhere else in the lower 48.

This photo demonstrates the similarities amazingly well: You have First and Second Lakes for Colchuck Lake, Contact Pass for Asgaard Pass, and the wide chute leading up to Gayley Camp is the Colchuck Glacier...and then, of course, the mountains look like sisters.
