Overview

Autumn, winter ... what to do in a fine winding (to have clean air) day when mountains are not yet good for ski-mountaneering, you don't want to make the usual rock-climb, and have few hours available ?
Easy, a run on the highway A8 till Varese, a short drive along the Val Ganna and in a few you get the starting point for a pleasant walkup inside a wood leading to the summit of one of the most panoramic summits of the area :
the Poncione di Ganna (990m)

a 3877 x 400 pixels pano of the Alps from the summit

Getting There

From Varese follow marks for Val Ganna - Lugano for few km.
When at Valganna (some houses and a fine small lake on your left side) on your right side, you'll find road marks for Cuasso al Monte.
Enter this road till the Alpe Tedesco, once there a sharp bend on the right gives you the access to a good car parking.

Route Description

Follow the marks to Poncione di Ganna, crossing a very fine wood, along a wide path.
After about half an hour you'll see, on the right, a narrow path pointing straight to the summit.
Follow it, somewhere is very steep, and, without realizing it, you get the summit

difference in elevation about 300m
time required less than 1 hour
panorama !!!
