Overview

In Rocky Mountain National Park ....

Estes Cone (11,006 feet) rises above the Longs Peak Campground yet is dwarfed by Longs Peak at 14,251'. Once on the summit you can see East to the high plains of Colorado and the killer views of the mighty Longs Peak and the Twin Sisters Peaks.

Starting at approx 9,400', the trail winds for approx. 3 miles upward to and through the Eugenia Mine (1.3 miles into the trip). At 2.5 miles a huge cairn (pile of rocks) will let you know to go right towards the summit of Estes Cone. Left will take you to Storm Pass. At the split you are at 10,200'. From here ... the trail get mass steep on your ascent to the summit. Just keep sucking wind and you will be awarded with great views!
