Route Climbed: West Slopes Date Climbed: August 1995
Because we intended to bag four 14ers on the same day, my friend Duane and I decided on the shortest route with the least elevation gain for Mt. Sherman. It was the first of the day, the other three being Democrat, Lincoln, and Bross. Duane succeeded with all four, but I was completely wasted by three nights of little or no sleep in the previous week, so I was lucky to return to the vehicle after summitting Democrat for only my second of the day. On Sherman we hiked to the southwest ridge at the Sherman-Sheridan Saddle and ascended the ridge to the summit.
