"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Standard Summer RouteVery crowded. Should have done this is a Spring climb and done the angel instead.

Twice in a dayThe double summit was surely worth it to be able to climb Tabeguache.

renewed Sawatch interest! This double summit 2 day climb has renewed my interest in the Sawatch range! Blank cabin meadows are intriguing at the start of trail then a decent trek up thru trees and across streams. The existing camping flats are ideal especially the last high spot at 11,200 offering open air views outside your tent. May is a good month to see the profound Grinch alongside the Angel. After winding thru these characters, the 14er path becomes kinda unclear and turns into a class 2 scramble up to the summit. Strong wind drafts keep you alert on the ridge climb to Tabeguache. Enjoy!

First 14er of the SummerClimbed with EricD - bagged Tabeguache. We were able to skirt around Shavano on the way back to save some time, not sure if any energy was saved as that's a lot of scrambling up there! Some snow drifts were difficult to avoid (and some were even preferred to the rocks). Traction not needed. Great weather and we saw a big-horn sheep and some marmots.

Not my Favorite!Maybe I would have liked this one more if I hadn't been so tired from two difficult days ahead of this one. Typical Sawatch slog! Nothing techincally challenging - but plenty physically challenging.

Standard Route with TabeguacheLonger trip than expected. Camped about two miles up from the trailhead for fun, lots of nice spots with plenty of water.
