Overview

Semeru also Gunung Semeru 3676m - located in East Java is the tallest mountain on the island of Java, Indonesia and one of its most active volcanoes.

Known also as Mahameru (Great Mountain), it is very steep and rises abruptly above the coastal plains of eastern Java. Maars containing crater lakes have formed along a line through the summit. Semeru lies at the south end of the Tengger Volcanic Complex.

Reaching the summit (Mahameru) you will enjoy the view of the major part of East Java. You will stand in the highest mountain in Java. You have to see the small-scale eruption every 20 minutes full of smokes and stones

Getting There

from Surabaya, use bus to Malang City, from Malang City change small public Transport call name (angkot) to Tumpang Village, from here change by Truck/Jeep to Ranupane Village.

Route Description

from Ranu Pane Village, ready to start the trekk take about 15km to Kalimati camp, then in the early morning start trek to Summit
