Parked at Marshal Pass and climbed the class 2 West Ridge. The climb up was fun and engaging. A lot of rock hoping and scrambling. Hiking poles were helpful. GPS and map tracking were helpful getting in getting through the lower forest section. Only saw 2 other people the entire day.

West Ridge
With Rachael. Third time up the peak, second from this route. Not too much snow compared to other peaks farther north. Marshall Pass road still clear and open. No snowshoes needed, some drifts where gaitors are good to have. Slick rocks on the upper ridge from overnight frost, but otherwise in good condition!

Straight up bowl right, good snow
Good spring conditions. Went straight up the right side of the bowl on 35-40 degree slope. Hard pack snow, no avi danger. Windy but clear on top, walking descent down left side of cirque over thinly snow-blown scree. Fun and short climb.
Great hike up through Grays Creek. Trail is easy-to-follow and bristlecones were cool.

cold, windy and poor visibility
Started from Marshall Pass TH, south slopes to west ridge, very windy and poor visibility, just me and Duchess (I prefer solitude in the mountains, and the extra challenge). We came down too far west on the way down (there was very poor visibility up on the ridge) and got to the intersection of Colorado=Continental Divide trail and Little Cochetopa trail. Took the Colorado, or Continental Divide (both share the same trail here) back to Marshall Pass.
Marshall Pass road was little slippery. I called the day before Forest Service in Gunnison to verify whether it is open.

E ridge
fun easy hike with talus scramble near the top. A bit of cross-country routefinding for excitement.
Someone we met referred to this as the "secret of 13-9". We would agree with that. Ouray is most definitely one of the most understated peaks anywhere. It's hard to beat the views and contemplating life with one's favorite companion.

Nice fall day on the Continental Divide
Climbed with friend Jake from Marshall Pass a few days after a fall snow. There was more scrambling possible on the ridge than I thought which made it pretty fun. Saw two others the whole day. Nasty windy on the summit and about 30 degrees at noon.
