Is it because you can see it from the Salt Lake valley??
Isn't there a lot of encounters with rattlesnakes and lightning
storms along some of the routes??

there! Mount Olympus truly is an awesome mountain.
Since I'm on this trail a lot, I try to do my share to block shortcuts, knock down errant cairns, pick up trash, etc. On Saturday I saw one of the largest groups I've ever seen up there (±40 people) going straight up blister hill, making no attempt to stay on the trail. It looked like some of photos I've seen of the conga lines going up Everest.
