Thanks a lot for the kind words... its a one of a kind type of place... I too also love the Nordic landscapes like Norway, Canada and Patagonia have to offer. Cheers -Tim-
can any of these Norse-named peaks on Baffin Island be climbed by routes that are less than Class IV? What I mean is...can you just avoid the headwalls and find a walking or scrambling route to any of the more prominent summits?
Hey Bob... the only peak I know of that offers a scramble to the top is Thor... I talked to one person who made the climb and swears it can be done and from pictures it certainly looks like it.
It still looks like a steep 45-50 degrtee scramble... fun... but one you'd want to be careful on...
As far as the other peaks go, Breablik-Baldr has a snow ramp that looks like it might go... but thats a guess and fails to take into account the many dangers such as crevasses, avalanches etc.
Hope this helps a little Bob. Happy New Year, I hope all is well with you.
Yeah, thanks! I was just curious. The chance of ever seeing those peaks is rather improbable. I just wanted to know if someone not into technical climbing could summit any of those amazing peaks.
