McConnel
Today I hiked up Mount McConnel on my way home from Loveland. I did the loop hike, including the spur trail to the true summit. The trails were very dry except for a skiff of snow in a few places. It was a warm day for December.
I hike the loop counter clockwise. The route down was steeper.

Good Views now!
Thanks to the High Park fire. Pretty cool little hike. Lots of downed trees on the trail especially on the eastern section of the loop. Climbed with my pal, Nelson.

Standard trail
Sunny, warm day out with my boys (Kiefer and Logan)!!! Tucked this nice on-trail summit in between two other summits. The High Park burn is just depressing... But the views from the top of this petite little mountains are fantastic!

Simple day out
Nice stroll on a good trail all the way to the summit. Decent views at the top, not the best but decent.
Campground was closed so I had the mountain all to myself.

Mt McConnel Trail
I took a friend from Houston, Texas up this one. The trail was very icy but she did very well for someone who had no experience hiking mountains let alone in snow.

Hot Hike
The early stretches weren't too bad, but once on top it was quite hot without enough shade. The views were very nice though.
My wife and I did this nice little hiking while camping at the Mountain Park Campground below. It was a short, but nice hike with nice views along the route up and down. We were a little disappointed that the actual summit doesn't provide good views due to the surrounding trees. Oh well. At least it was fun trying to figure out which mound of rocks was the actual summit. :)

The skies were clear for this hike, a welcome change from the rainy weather of the past four weekends. I saw no one else on the trail, which was surprising since it was Labor Day, and the parking lot was nearly full.

I was recovering from a cold, I didn't have a whole lot of time, and I wanted to take the dog and wife with me so decided to try out this little mountain. It was a nice little hike and the summit provided a good view of the north end of the Mummy Range.
