Hiked in to Upper Lena Lake for an overnight with my grown up kids.
We then climbed Lena, starting towards the southwestern slope then traversing back over to the south/southeast slopes (should have just headed up to the south/southeast slopes from the lake). Very dry, great fall colors starting.

South Ridge
Reached summit of Mt. Bretherton in the am, then headed over to tag Lena Peak in the afternoon. Followed trail towards Scout Lake for a mile or so and then pushed on up onto Lena's south ridge as soon as opportunity presented. Follow ridgeline north - fun crosscountry alpine travel. Head up a big obvious gully in direction of the true summit to the top and then traverse up a steep grassy meadow into the notch just west of the summit. (Think by taking the gully we bypassed the false summit and saved a little time.) Short section of ugly class 4.loose.garbage rock / veggie-belaying along the ridgetop to reach the USGS marker near the summit.

Talk about scree
Not a particularly interesting climb, but a good view of the surround area. We started at Upper Lena Lake, and scrambled up a series of steel scree slopes to get to the true summit. Don't slip!
Title says it all. Two interesting perspectives of the same mountain. Love upper lena

East Peak And Main Peak
We climbed the east peak the day before and then camped at Upper Lena Lake. The second day we hiked up Lena using the Scout Lake trail and then the south ridge. Finally we attempted Bretherton to 5400 feet before heading out.

Great little scree climb
Camped at Upper Lena and climbed Bretherton on the 15th and figured we'd climb this one too before we left. The scree ski down was more fun than the climb :P Awesome views.
Stayed the night at Upper Lena Lake and summited in the morning. The day before I had done Bretherton and low clouds killed all the views. Fortunately, Mt. Lena more than made up for it. I stopped at the false summit since the views were much better than pics I had seen from the actual summit. Amazing scenery, just amazing.
